Last year saw us celebrate our tenth anniversary with a packed year of fundraising to mark our special milestone decade.
In total across the twelve months throughout 2017 we raised an amazing £19,000 for two local charities including Headway Oxfordshire.
The £7,000 raised for the Oxfordshire Headway branch last year has helped the charity based in Kennington complete their £30,000 fundraising for the neurological rehabilitation gym, which opened last May as part of the redeveloped centre.
The total cost of the specialist gym, helping provide rehabilitative physiotherapy treatment to adults living with brain injuries, was £30,000. The £7k we raised in our tenth year helped to fund six specialist exercise chairs, which was custom built to suit the specialist needs of service users with a complex range of needs.
The funds was raised last year through a whole series of events including our glitzy celebratory tenth anniversary Ball last September, tombolas, raffles, runners in fun runs including Milton Park's first Santa Run and wacky monster races, sponsored walkers, a Summer fun day, fundraising fairs, skydivers and a collection held at the Oxfordshire Sports Awards last year also helped to add to the total.
In total we have donated over £11,600 in funds alone for Headway Oxfordshire in our fundraising for the specialist activity and rehabilitation centre in 2014.
Previous funds raised over the years funded the redeveloped centre which was completed in late 2016 and towards keeping the centre and the specialist services running.
Headway Oxfordshire supports around 400 individuals and their families every year.
The charity is a cause close to our founder Andy Baker's heart. Andy was born with a brain injury and received brain surgery aged 12 in 2001. Andy was referred to the charity's services aged 23 in 2011 and has helped to tirelessly raise funds since 2014 for Headway to Headway for the support provided to him and his mum, as his carer.
Andy was also the face behind an e-petition shared with local MPs in late 2015 to save the charity against government cuts, after funding from Oxfordshire County Council was reduced.
We pass our thanks onto everyone who helped supported our big year of fundraising last year, and to all the companies, schools, groups and individuals as well as our dedicated team of volunteers who helped us to raise such an amazing amount of money in what was our biggest year of fundraising to date!
