Revved up with £300 donation from Oxford Bus Company

Huge thank you to the Oxford Bus Company for their great support to Play2Give this year who have revved up our fundraising by £300!

The company have donated an amazing £300 towards this years football fundraising tournament which has helped boost the amount we've raised this year for the Children's Hospital.

We can't thank Oxford Bus Company enough for their wonderful gesture in revving up the sponsorship aim of the under 9s  Oxford City Nomads with this addition to their sponsorship total. Oxford Bus Company chose Play2Give as one of the causes they most wanted to support this year through donating uncollected passenger change.

Oxford City Nomads U9s have raised the most out of any of the 13 boys teams that took part this year with £545 in total! Well done all!
The grand total raised by Play2Give this year will be announced once a cheque presentation to the hospital charity has been arranged.

We are pleased to now be able to announce some amazing news that Play2Give has been nominated and shortlisted in the 2013 Oxfordshire Charity & Volunteer Awards.

We are up for the 'Best Community Project' category. Find out more here

To be put up for this award against two other deserving finalists in this category is just a fine nod of recognition and after another successful year of fundraising for the Oxford Children's Hospital we are thrilled.
This is a huge pat on the back for the whole team who makes Play2Give such a success, particularly Dale Harris and Teresa Strike who work so hard alongside Andrew Baker, in organising the annual fundraising football events every year. The last on June 16th we ran was another huge success and proceeds raised for the Children's Hospital still coming in.
We are hugely pleased to be recognised in this way.

Since Play2Give was created nearly 6 years ago, and what started out as just a men's football 6 a side tournament, Play2Give has just grown and grown and become hugely popular and successful, with having raised over £17,100 to date for local causes. With over £13,000 of proceeds raised for the Children's Hospital. 2012 saw Play2Give raise the most amount of money ever for charities, with over £5,600 raised. £5,273 of that donated to the Children's Hospital.

We get to attend the awards evening at Oxford Town Hall on October 14th when the winners and runners-up will be announced.

Kanika Lang, awards organiser, says: "The judges were very impressed with the high calibre and huge variety of projects happening across Oxfordshire. Thanks to the generous help of sponsors from Oxfordshire's business community, we are able to host a special celebration event in October to thank the charities, voluntary organisations and individual volunteers for making a difference to the lives of people across the county."

We also want to say a huge congratulations to Headway Oxfordshire who is up for two awards for 'Charity of the Year' and the 'Lifetime Achievement' Award which is a great achievement for Headway as they celebrate this year being their 25th Anniversary.
And huge congratulations to Joe Robinson - a friend and supporter of Play2Give - who has won a volunteer award and will be honoured at this awards evening for his JR 4 JR fundraising project. Joe has raised over £37, 000 for the JR neurosciences intensive care unit after having his life saved by the remarkable team in the neurosciences 4 years ago. Well done Joe, you are an inspirational young man!

Looking forward to attending the evening on October 14th at Oxford Town Hall - should be a good night!
