Play2Give funds cutting edge bedside monitors at Oxford Children's Hospital

As part of our tenth anniversary year of celebrations, Play2Give has made another lasting difference to the lives of young patients at the Oxford Children's Hospital by funding some cutting edge bedside monitors.

Last year we turned ten years old and our big year saw us raise a record £12,000 across 2017 for the hospital, which we have been tirelessly fundraising towards since our founder and former children's hospital patient, Andrew Baker, founded us in 2007.

These cutting edge bedside monitors are a significant improvement on current models. They are monitored centrally, giving medical staff accurate vital information about each child even if they are travelling between hospitals, from theatres, Paediatric Intensive Care or other wards.

The rest of the money will go towards a range of other specialist medical equipment, funding the new parent accommodation and for research into childhood diseases.

We extend our huge thanks to everyone who supported and was involved in our tenth birthday year of fundraising, who have helped us to achieve another wonderful amount that will certainly change, transform and save young lives who go through the hospital's doors for many years to come.

Since September 2007 we have raised over to date for the children's hospital, based at the John Radcliffe. In March 2017 the single patient room that we funded at a cost of £40,000 raised over many years was unveiled after we achieved the £40k goal to name our room by late 2016. "The Play2Give Room" is based on Melanie's Ward, the hospital's specialist adolescent ward.

We also raised £7,000 last year for Headway Oxfordshire, the specialist brain injury charity based in Kennington, which supports adults and their families, like our Andrew, living with the impact of brain injuries. The £7,000 funded the neurological physiotherapy gym, in particular funding six specialist exercise chairs.
