Football Tournament 2008

13 July 2008 - Oxford City Football Club
July 2008 saw the second 6 a side mens football tournament take place, at a brand new venue, and even bigger and better.

Raising £3,400, the event at Oxford City Football Club, saw more teams than the previous year take part, with 23 teams from Oxfordshire and beyond sign up to take on each other.  Even a team of Stags from Bristol on a stag weekend took part, albeit sober, and all in winning performances on a beautiful hot sunny day.  The overall winners were All Stars (Headington Amateurs FC) with Oxford Yellows and AFC Hinksey in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

The money was shared between the Oxford Children's Hospital and the Abingdon Town Amateur Boxing Club fundraising campaign to raise £200,000 for a new facility for young people in the town.  The event was once again supported by sponsors Newbury Building Society, and Hospital Radio Cherwell provided the music.
