An Evening of Play2Giving 4 Entertaining Sponsored by Johnsons Cars Oxford - 22 February 2014

Play2Giving Party A Phoneomal Success
Play2Give with support of the Didcot Rugby Club, and organised in association with the John Radcliffe Paediatric Eye Fund, held a spectacular fundraising entertainment evening raising money for the Oxford Children's Hospital and the Oxford Paediatric Eye Fund on February 22nd, 2014.
The event, generously sponsored by Johnsons Cars Oxford, was a cracking night full of musical entertainment, eating, drinking and hilarity, all host generously by The Marlborough Club in Didcot and included a very hairy dance-floor as brave and daring recruited volunteers from both the rugby club, Andrew himself and other guys of the local Didcot community had their heads shaved or body areas such as legs and arms waxed to rake in lots of coffers for our two charities! The event was overseen by Andrew Baker with fellow friend and PEF founder-volunteer, Ross Downes. Both are pictured left.
From the main attractions of a disco thanks to our DJ, Impact Disco, our band the Unusual Suspects (a 4-man rock covers group) to head shaves and mini waxes for the willing brave guys, to a large fantastic raffle of 30+ prizes, nibbles and drinks, this evening was a firing success. All proceeds will go towards making life better for the children in hospital and youngsters suffering from eye disease.
The money raised for the Oxford Children's Hospital will help fund the purchase of specialist medical equipment and sensory distraction items and equipment helping to maintain the Children's hospital to its highest standard.
Whilst money raised for the Paediatric Eye Fund (PEF), based at the John Radcliffe in Oxford, raises funds for pioneering equipment and research for children and premature babies suffering many forms of debilitating and potentially sight threatening eye disease. Hundreds of babies are born prematurely in the Oxfordshire region and this can lead to many conditions affecting eye sight specifically.
In supporting PEF we will be helping to purchase an incredible piece of diagnostic equipment that will revolutionise the way and speed these children are being diagnosed.
We are delighted to announce that this year's fundraising evening broke all previous records for any past fundraising evening and has raised over £600+. Once other donations, such as the sponsorship from shaves and waxes come in, the night looks set to have raised an amazing £1,000+ which will make a very real difference to both charities! This is a terrific achievement which has set Play2Give on its way to a successful start to the 2014 year of fundraising for the Children's Hospital! Well done everybody!

This evening also saw our very own Andrew Baker scalped as he celebrated an amazing achievement of a decade of fundraising for the children's hospital which he achieved in 2013. Andrew had notched up close to £33,000, at the time.
