Play2Give, established in September 2007, is all about changing, transforming and saving lives across Oxfordshire. We are very proud to support a wide range of local charities by raising funds and awareness through a wide number of fundraising events and campaigns all year round. Over £230,000 has been raised and donated to date.
As of 2020, we also provide clothing packages to struggling individuals and families in and around Didcot, and 'magical pamper hampers' to bring some tlc and joy to those locally having a tough time or hardship.
Oxford Children's Hospital Charity - reg. charity 1175809
We have supported the Children's Hospital, based at the John Radcliffe, since we formed in 2007. The Children's Hospital is a cause very close to our founder Andrew Baker's heart after undergoing brain surgery aged 12, which spurred his inspiration on to raise funds for the hospital in 2003. We have currently raised over £65,800 to date for the Oxford Children's Hospital Charity and have helped fund all the added extras from medical equipment to additional patient comforts and parent accommodation that only fundraising can provide. In 2017 nearly £7,000 of funds raised enabled us to help fund bedside monitors for every child's bed within the hospital and intensive care areas.
Ronald McDonald House Charities - reg. charity 802047
We are delighted to lend our support to the Ronald McDonald House Charities which provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to families of sick children in hospital, and in area funding the brand new £14million 62-bedroom Oxford House which opened in May 2020. Since 2017, we have helped fund over 365 nights to families. We have raised enough to sponsor our own family room, within the new house. We are delighted to have helped raise over £9,200 so far enabling families to stay close to their sick child being treated in the Oxford Children's Hospital and neonatal care areas at the JR Hospital.
Off the Streets - part of the Angels Performing Arts
Off the Streets is the charity of the Angels Performing Arts. This project helps to support many families who have financial difficulties to enable their children to come along and enjoy dance. The funds can be accessed by any family who fits the criteria and many families within the Angels Performing Arts dance school have already benefited from help or have ongoing help. This can be a temporary or long term situation for any family due to a parent being unwell, redundancy at work, separation, there is many reasons Off the Streets have helped. We are pleased to support Off the Streets and work with the Angels to raise important funds. We have raised over £1,770 so far through danceathons and our Didcot's Got Talent Show in 2019.
Soundabout - reg. charity 1103002
Soundabout uses music to unlock the potential of people of all ages with learning disabilities, and empowers teachers, families and carers to do the same. Soundabout received £297 raised from our Didcot's Got Talent Show in 2019.
SSNAP - reg. charity 1146622
We support SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents) located at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The charity is dedicated to supporting the families of sick and premature babies providing emotional and practical support to families and assisting with funds for additional resources and innovative and life changing equipment for the Newborn Care Unit (previously SCBU). This cause means a lot to our founder Andy Baker as he was a Special Care Baby Unit child when he was born. We have donated nearly £800 in funds towards the neonatal care areas.
Headway Oxfordshire - reg. charity 1156538
Headway Oxfordshire has been one of our key charities of support, when Andy was referred to their service in 2011. Headway, based in Kennington, provides practical advice, support and rehabilitation to adults with acquired brain injuries and a support network to their carers and families, as well as raising awareness of brain injuries. Andy was born with a brain injury and has benefited from the services of Headway Oxfordshire for the past seven years as part of his rehabilitation, attending the activity & rehabilitation centre twice weekly. We have donated over £17,260 in funds over the years which helped fund the redeveloped ARC, funding the neurological physiotherapy gym, helping to keep the centre running and activities for service users and over £500 towards the sensory rehabilitation garden project.
Be Free Young Carers - reg. charity 1042708
Be Free YC supports the lives and well being of young carers in Oxfordshire. Be Free YC operates across Southern Oxfordshire offering support and advice dedicated to improving the lives and well being of young carers. They invest in young carers through practical, educational, emotional and social support that Be Free YC provides to young carers can help to off-set the disproportionate impact that the challenges and demands of caring has on their lives.
Footsteps Foundation - reg. charity 1123440
Footsteps Foundation we have supported over many years, and Andy has even visited the Footsteps Centre based in Dorchester-on-Thames. The Footsteps Centre specialises in the intensive rehabilitation of children and young adults with cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, epilepsy, and other neurological and neuromotor disorders. By raising money, we help support the foundation provide financial assistance to families in need of support, enabling these children with these conditions to access Footsteps life-changing and innovative therapy programmes. We have donated over £1,960 so far.
Partyman's Magic Makers - reg. charity 1168797
With the mission of creating laughter, smiles and magical memories for the UK's most deserving children and their families, Magic Makers aims to provide magical experiences to those children and families facing difficult situations through serious illness, hardship or trauma - a perfect fitting charity for Play2Give to support. We are delighted to work with the Oxford arm of Magic Makers through Partyman World of Play, to help bring some magical memories to these children and families and we work together on some wonderful events.
Style Acre - reg. charity 1101626
Style Acre enhances the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism. Each and every person supported is valued and helped to lead a meaningful life and realise their potential. They work with families and carers to provide the best possible experience for those they support. We are delighted to support Style Acre, as Andy suffered learning disabilities throughout childhood, and knows only too well how important the right support is to help against these everyday difficulties.
We have also supported other charities across Oxfordshire since 2007 including Special Effect, the John Radcliffe's Paediatric Eye Fund and Bone Cancer Research amongst others.
