Play2Give 2013 Is Another Knockout Success - 21 June 2013

The annual football fun day returned to Oxford City Football Club's Community Arena on 16th June - and what a knockout success it again was!
13 boys teams from across Oxfordshire lined up to take part on the fantastic 3G pitches of Court Place Farm, where City is based, to help raise lots of money for children like them, but in hospital. Yet again, Play2Give's football tournament has been another huge success and the atmosphere was buzzing all day long!
With around 130 children across ten 7-a-side teams, and with their families, they have already helped to boost the lives of poorly children across the Oxford Children's Hospital, and so far over £3,700 has been netted in! There is still more money to come.
With huge thanks to our wonderful main sponsors, Breckon and Breckon, who funded the entire event, and to Newbury Building Society, who sponsored the Play2Give cup and medals for the fifth year running, and to Elmer Cotton, all of which have helped ensure that Play2Give 2013 gave 100% of all proceeds to the Oxford Children's Hospital charity.
Teams that took part across the under-8s and under-9s age groups included four Oxford City teams, Berinsfield, Bicester Colts, and Bure Park to Summertown Stars, Crowmarsh Orange and Marston Saints.
The raffle was yet again another popular part of the event - and this year saw the raffle break all records, with the most amount raised through ticket sales. The raffle raised £660.50 in total, and this was thanks to over 30 amazing prizes that was donated by many Oxfordshire companies making this the most successful raffle in the history of Play2Give football tournaments.
With prizes from £50 M&S vouchers, to a Sunday carvery for four people at any Four Pillars Hotel, to a Miele vacuum, to a microwave donated by Tesco, and chocolate from Mars, we are immensely chuffed. Thank you to all those who donated such fantastic prizes.

The auction of a signed Arsenal team photo framed added an extra £185 into the fundraising pot, and this was won by a lady who was ecstatic with her win. We also had face-painting which raised £21, to doughnuts, slush puppies and candy floss, to a coconut shy run by Breckon & Breckon which added extra pounds, and refreshments and burgers cooked up by Oxford City Football Club and added an extra £230 to proceeds..
Co-organiser Teresa Strike, said: "The day was really successful with some great football from the children. Every child went home with a medal and chocolate bar for their amazing efforts. Thanks to all the helpers along the way and on the day. We hope to have raised thousands of pounds for the childrens hospital which is close to all our hearts."
