Sainsbury's Didcot's Record £4,300 Donated to Play2Give!
In July 2014 Sainsbury's Didcot chose to support Play2Give as their local charity of the year, and in the course of a year they have raised a record £4,300.16!
On July 14 2015, staff - Alex Falconer, Deputy Manager, Veronica Dallas, PR Ambassador and team leaders Luke Norris and Andrea Smith - visited the Children's Hospital with Andrew to present him with their enormous cheque totalling the year's grand proceeds, as well as a tour of the Melanie's teenage ward, of which once Play2Give smashes the £40,000 target to raise for the hospital, a plaque will be in situ of one of the rooms on the ward.
The store through customers and staff raised the money through a variety of calendar-packed events, from collection tins on all checkouts, to a sponsored walk, head shaves, a football match, face painting, cake and bake sales, bag packing, raffles at the Christmas staff party, to Lee Crook raising sponsorship with Movember in November and a 1000km walk over 10 weeks - all to achieve this amazing sum!
£4,300 is the most that the store has ever raised in history for a local charity partner of the year, and as staff say due to a result of Andrew's passion!
