Sainsbury's Razors Up with Big Shave
11 April 2015 - Sainsbury's Didcot
The afternoon of April 11th, on a busy Saturday for the store, saw Sainsbury's Didcot pay host towards a last big push in fundraising for Play2Give with colleagues going bald - all in the name of the cause!
The Sainsbury's Big Super Shave Day was orchestrated by Luke Norris, counters assistant, who decided in a moment of madness one Saturday in January that he would shave his head to raise some funds for Play2Give - the store's chosen local charity of the year. So, Luke soon started to ask round and whip up some more 'victims' and he managed to persuade fellow counter colleagues, Chris Ewing (who grew his hair long especially) and Ben Shaw, former counters manager, who has moved to their Kidlington counterparts.
So, checkout assistants Jess Clifton and Ali Bates, with help from Danny, got to work on the guys first clipping them to a grade 1, before adding the foam and butchering their hair with the razor, and well a great job done - as the 3 lads look wicked with their new looks, especially Luke who looks a bit too frighteningly of a rough and tough skinhead!
Well done to everyone involved, a huge thank you to Jess, Ali, and Veronica, and of course to Ben, Luke and Chris and an extra special big thank you to Luke for masterminding this entire event which was super fun and an amazing way to add to the supermarket's funds raised to date for our charities. It even attracted the interest of the local media - the Oxford Mail and Didcot Herald who had a photographer on hand to capture both Luke and Chris undergoing the clippers!
And lots of generous customers and passers-by who witnessed the entire shaving at the entrance to the store on a lovely sunny but bit cold afternoon.
All the pictures can be viewed below. An update on the amount raised will follow soon!
