Meet the team

Meet our dedicated team of key volunteers who make it all happen! From our board of trustees who help to steer and direct the charity to others behind the scenes, and the growing number who help not listed, we are a very motivated, dedicated, and fun-loving team all inspired as change makers through Andrew’s passion for the benefit of those we strive to support.

Meet the Board of Trustees

Andrew Baker MBE BCAv

Founder, Chair and Director

andrew@play2give.org.uk

Andrew, known as ‘Mr Play2Give’, and who suffers with a brain injury, created Play2Give. He began fundraising for Oxford Children’s Hospital aged 14 in 2003, driven by a desire to give back to the Oxford medical teams who saved his life as a child, twice. As founder and as chair, he heads up the team, ensuring compliance is met, and is responsible for the overall day-to-day running and overall responsibility of the organisation, liaising closely with the board of trustees.

He brings his A-Level business studies and ICT qualifications, and helps to drive, inspire and motivate the team, as it’s Andy who makes the team enthused to help.

He was honoured with the British Citizen Award for volunteering and charitable giving in 2017, and the MBE for services to charity in the New Year Honours 2021.

Her husband, Christopher Coates, is also our very own Santa – who also is Santa across Didcot at many events. Leanne was the winner of our 2022/2023 Play2Give Volunteers Award, at our gala ball in 2023, and has been shortlisted for unsung hero in the Didcot Town Council Awards 2025.

As senior volunteers, they do so much from ticketing and preparing raffle and tombola prizes, behind the scenes including sorting and boxing Sleigh2Give donations, counting, boxing and helping to deliver Easter eggs each year, and Linda has even been a stand-in Santa to not disappoint poorly children one Christmas when the real Santa was ill. Both use their own personal experience of having grandchildren treated at the John Radcliffe, including their disabled grandson, and their own health challenges, as well as doing it all inspired by Andy as their motivation. They were the winners of our very first annual volunteer award, in 2022.
