About the event
Run the Reading Half Marathon 2024 for Play2Give
The first ever Reading Half Marathon was organised and ran in 1983, when the start and finish points was Reading University. 5,000 runners took part with the first inaugural run won by local university student, 21-year old Mark Curzons who completed the race in a time of 67:45.
The Reading Half Marathon not only takes in the highlights of the centre of Reading where you will experience huge crowd support but still passes through the beautiful grounds of the University campus. The race culminates in a finish rarely found outside an Olympic stadium with over 15,000 people cheering you on into the stadium and over the finish line.
Sweatshop took over the organisation of the Reading Half in 2023, with their aim to make the event all about the runner and create an experience that is worthy of this prestigious half marathon. With numerous changes to the course a faster route resulted and an amazing finish in the magnificent Madejski Stadium – home of course to Reading FC.
Whether you run for fun, run to stay fit, run for a club, or professionally run, the Reading Half Marathon has the organisational capability, friendliness and reputation all of which are second to none.
By taking part, you could also be supporting a brilliant local charity in changing, transforming, and saving lives by running to raise money and awareness for Play2Give? Would you like to enter and choose our charity to fundraise for? Please get in touch if you wish to raise funds for us.
