Sleigh2Give

It has launched for 2026 – the 12th Sleigh2Give appeal is underway and we need your help to help us bring Christmas magic to those in need

Spreading cheer, joy and smiles every Christmas

Each year, Sleigh2Give – the festive arm of Play2Give – provides presents to poorly children and families in hospital, hospices, less fortunate and the vulnerable including organisations supporting those with disabilities.

2025 saw the 11th appeal and what a year it was as it smashed all previous years with the best, biggest and a record toy and gift drive ever marking over a decade of gift giving in spectacular style!

Thanks to the amazing and continued festive generosity of the community who give so generously each Christmas, we are able to provide thousands of smiles through thousands of gifts spreading plenty of cheer, joy, and smiles far and wide across the county.

Last year, we estimated to have amassed around £70k worth in value from our biggest number of presents donated by the Oxfordshire community and beyond from schools to businesses to supermarkets and individuals, given out to a wide number of organisations and to families and children financially struggling. Oxford Children’s Hospital received their biggest haul in recent years, and what is extra special is that thanks to such incredible overwhelming generosity, we was able to continue gifting out toys to young patients this Easter so that those who couldn’t have an Easter egg or chocolate treat still received some Easter joy.

Over 7,000 presents to children and families in hospital, the vulnerable and those less well off

From two local branches of Home-Start, to some low income families to young patients and families in hospital including neonatal care and even the Horton children’s ward in Banbury, hospices, and those vulnerable and with disabilities all receive an annual elfy dose of generosity – so much so Sleigh2Give grows year on year. Originally created in November 2015 as an one-off Christmas toy collection with Sainsbury’s in Didcot for Oxford Children’s Hospital, Sleigh2Give has captured the hearts, purse strings and love far and wide – even from as far as Plymouth!

Oxford Children's Hospital

Young patients receive donations of all new toys to make their stay in hospital more magical and brighter. The Oxford Children’s Hospital (CHOX) has always been the forefront of the campaign, with Sleigh2Give having been born originally with the hospital as its sole beneficiary.

Thanks to our biggest ever collections in both 2025 and 2026, we were still able to provide toys at Easter so that young patients having day procedures, painful procedures such as anesthetics and those spending time in the hospitals over Easter and throughout the year, continue to receive a toy. Since the first Christmas collection in 2015 we have amassed thousands of donations.

A helping hand from Driving Miss Daisy Didcot

Driving Miss Daisy Didcot continue to help deliver our gifts to our Oxford healthcare institutions, something they have done across three consecutive years as part of their corporate support. As part of their support and sponsorship they kindly provide transportation of Santa, the cheeky Elf and Lady Claus and thousands of presents to our Oxford healthcare beneficiaries including Oxford Children’s Hospital, hospices and the neonatal care unit on the John Radcliffe site, in their seven-seater minibus, and we are extremely thankful for their kind and continued generosity.

With thanks to our storage suppliers

As we continue to grow in our operations just as our Christmas donations does, we have now expanded our storage provision – and we moved our operations-based side of Play2Give to new storage premises in Didcot, just off Milton Park.

After three years of wonderful and donated storage from BizSpace Didcot, we moved into our solely-occupied new indoor contained unit, within The Self Storage Co headquarters, where our warehouse is flourishing, providing even more space to sort, sift through, box, pack, and store all the thousands of Christmas donations.

We are immensely thankful to them, so that we can continue what we do without scaling down our good work.

Did you know?...

Tesco Didcot have been involved since the beginning? Over the past 10 years the supermarket have warmly welcomed us each November/December with a wooden hand-made sleigh in the front of the store engaging with us customers and staff. We have had many record breaking collections across three days and also raise hundreds of pounds in cash donations from generous shoppers. Thank you Elaine, Becci and the team

10th Anniversary Sleigh2Give Appeal in pictures

Our tenth anniversary campaign in 2024 was our biggest one yet – and we even received more toys than ever meaning we were able to donate ten boxes of toys to the children’s hospital this April, to be given out by the play specialists throughout the year.

Sleigh2Give in pictures over the years

Since being born in 2015, Sleigh2Give as our festive appeal has been in spreading cheer, joy and smiles on the faces of poorly and less fortunate children in hospitals, hospices, the less fortunate, vulnerable and those in crisis and in financial hardship. And, it all began when Sainsbury’s in Didcot wished to collect a few toys for Oxford Children’s Hospital one Christmas…
