2022 Review: February
What an incredible year for our charity 2022 was.
That was the year that saw us celebrate all year long our 15th Birthday, an anniversary we reached officially by date on September 13th.
It was our best year ever, and we didn’t think 2017 when we raised over £19k in our 10th year could ever be topped!
Over £22,000 was raised in our milestone year through a wide number of events, numerous stalls, tombolas, raffles and more.
But it wasn’t the only milestone…
FEBRUARY: After a quiet January, our 15th year started off with a big celebration, especially for our founder Andy Baker.
Andy reached 20 years of fundraising!
February 2022 was the month that Andy, who founded our charity in 2007, marked reaching two decades in dedicated charitable giving.
Andy celebrated the milestone at Oxford Children’s Hospital, which is how his fundraising drive began aged 14 in 2003 while a St Birinus School pupil.
February 14th marked 20 years for Andy in making a difference to the lives of others – and particularly Oxford Children’s Hospital for the entire 20 years.
Andy set out with a dream to raise £500 in year 10 to help fund the building of the children’s hospital – and went from £1,000 raised with school friends and teachers to achieving his biggest success story with Play2Give, and with it earning an MBE in 2021.
Andy’s incredible achievement was celebrated in true style with family, friends and charity supporters at our Hollywood themed Ball the following month in March which also saw a short celebratory video made by the Oxford Hospitals Charity played, and, in the same month with it, earning a Special Recognition Award from the Didcot town council for his dedication and achievement at their awards evening.
Now, Andy next month will be at 21 years of changing, transforming and saving lives across Oxfordshire and particularly children, health and disability causes.
What a 2022 year for us and for Andy and what a way to end Andy’s 20th year of dedicated service to charitable giving than by over £22k raised in 22 in 20.
