2022 Review of the year – May

Published: 11th January 2023

Last year was certainly the most successful year for our charity yet in our milestone 15th birthday year, and here we are looking back at some of the highlights of the year which was a record-breaker in both funds and the amount of gifts through our festive arm, Sleigh2Give.

Our fifteenth year was an incredible year, another busy and action-packed year and not to rest on our laurels, after aiming to raise £15k in 15 we smashed our goal and raised over £22,000 in funds alone!

May was a double dose of fantastic fundraising for us, and, to start the month off and seeing our 15k in 15 appeal in continued good stead, Oxford estate agent Rowan Waller helped to raise funds by taking on the inaugural Oxford Town and Gown Run. The city’s annual 10k run, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, saw around 4,700 people take part, and Rowan who admires all that we do as a charity, donned a P2G vest to take on the bustling streets of the city of dreaming spires on a warm Sunday morning. Rowan who owns Wallers Estate Agents completed the 10k in a time of 1hour 3 minutes and 40 seconds, surpassing his own set goal timewise. Absolutely fantastic.

Wallers Estate Agents is an award-winning, local, independent and family-run estate agency based in Oxford and Swindon, and was set up by Rowan in 2014, and he certainly is a big-hearted man, where last year as well as raising funds for us, he also supported numerous other good causes, as he also competed in the Oxford Half as well, is there no stopping him! What a P2G Hero!

And, in the same month later in May, we joined forces once again with our friends the Angels Performing Arts to hold our fourth dazzling danceathon, held at The Marlborough Club in Didcot. On a warm Sunday afternoon, and with around 40 dancers saw energetic, talented and breathtaking dance moves, with a fun and vibrant event raising a record amount for any previous danceathon with around £2,800 raised! All funds shared between our good causes as part of our 15k in 15 Appeal and the Angels very own, ‘Off the Streets’ fund. Pure Gym instructors provided a lively warm-up, there was face painting and body art, a raffle, a tombola, and a bouncy castle thanks to Time 2 Bounce. There was a food van to keep everyone’s hunger at bay, and even Andy bust out his best moves to join in, too.

Thank you to all of our wonderful supporters and to all of our community who get behind our charity and helping us in changing, transforming and saving lives across Oxfordshire and beyond. It is only thanks to the incredible support we receive that we are able to do what we do in making an enormous difference and impact on the lives of others.
