Over £4,500 has been given to the Oxford Children’s Hospital as our latest donation, following another successful football fundraiser
Back in June we held our fifth football tournament, the second as a juniors contest, at Oxford City Football Club’s ground. It was a day of mixed bagged weather, but the total wasn’t a dampener as the day raised over £4,500, and along with sales of charity wristbands through the year, we are pleased to have raised £4,812.40 in total across 2013.
Our running total raised for the children’s hospital now stands at over £32,500 over a decade – after Andy Baker first began raising money as a schoolboy aged 14 back in 2003.
On Thursday Andy, Dale and Teresa visited the children’s hospital to present hospital representatives with the grand cheque, alongside representatives from sponsors Breckon & Breckon and Newbury Building Society and the Oxford City Nomads boys football team, who was this year’s top awarded fundraising team.
June’s contest was another fantastic day of footballing fever, and we thank all of the teams, the event sponsors, supporters and our organisers who worked hard to organise another brilliant event.
We look forward to hosting next year’s event, which will once again be held at Oxford City’s Court Place Farm ground, in July.
