Day of footballing fun nets in almost £6k

Over £5,950 in the net from 2023 football tournament

What a result!

This time last week our 12th charity 6 a side football tournament was well and truly underway in Wallingford and what a match of the day it turned out to be.

Another successful football tournament contested by a record number of teams who registered in the event’s history with 28 signed up and 26 squads turning up to do battle on the pitches and all with one goal to be in with the chance to lift The P2G PEF-sponsored Cup to victory.

£5,956.50 is the incredible total raised so far by this year’s footballing fest and is the second best total raised after our 2014 event, and just surpassing 2015’s £5,732.

Despite an early shower we were truly blessed with the weather as it turned out to be in true P2G tournament tradition sunny and by afternoon warm. It was a great day full of footballing frenzy, fun and great spirits all round and of course lots of competitive action.

We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who took part, came along, donated, brought raffle tickets, our corporate sponsors, had a go on the tombola and was involved in many ways, to all of our volunteers and event team on the day, in the organisation and made Sunday’s record 28-team tournament so special.

The number of people whose lives will be changed, transformed, and saved by the funds raised from young patients and their families in the Oxford Children’s Hospital to adults with brain injuries and their carers, to babies and families in the neonatal care unit at the JR, to many others will all benefit thanks to such amazing generosity and kindness.

This year’s event was a huge success, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who helped to make the day possible and such a success.

As always it was a real team effort and as ever P2G making a big difference with a huge impact whether it’s helping to fund state of the art medical equipment to toys, games and added comforts for young patients in hospital, to neurological physiotherapy machines for the rehabilitative care of brain injury service users supported by Oxford Head Injury Service, each and every penny and pound will touch the lives of so many less fortunate, vulnerable, health and disabilities.

  • and all the teams who took part as without them there would be no tournament.

All of our teams who raised money are special and superheroes but an extra shout out to the Planet IT team who raised over £1,500 this year and earnt the top fundraising cup.

We are pleased to announce that our 2024 football tournament is already booked so do mark Sunday July 7th 2024 in the diaries as our 6 a side footballing fest will return once again at Wallingford Sports Park, and team registrations will open early next year.

What a day”
