Sponsored swimathon raises over £7,200 for good causes

Our thanks once again go to The Jones Robinson Group (formerly Church Robinson) for choosing us as one of their charities to support during their year of fundraising this year.

The Jones Robinson Group with many branches across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and West Berkshire – including an office in Didcot, chose five regional charities closest to their hearts to support through funds and awareness, and we were delighted that Play2Give was their Oxfordshire charity of choice alongside Julia’s House and Naomi House & Jacksplace, Newbury Cancer Care and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance.

To kick start their fundraising drive, and launch their charity partnership, they head dived straight in and took the plunge in an open air pool back on 18th June, on one of the hottest days this summer with 26C, and cooled down literally with a splashing swimathon totalling 34 miles or the equivalent of the full distance between their Devizes and Newbury offices along the Kennet and Avon Canal – and with it raising a swimmingly successful amount of money!

Thanks to the generosity, kindness and support of their colleagues, clients, partners and supporters, they soared up an amazing amount of money through online donations bringing their opening total to their year of fundraising to over £7,200!

Members of their staff from across the company took to the pool at David Lloyd Leisure in Newbury swimming 38.7 miles (or 2,735 length of the pool) in total in one day, cheered on by other colleagues of their team who kept dry poolside, friends and their wider community.

Speaking afterwards online, sales manager of the Newbury branch, Charlie Jones, said: “It was a fantastic day! We couldnt be prouder of the team, not just for the distance they swam, but for the energy, determination, and commitment they brought to supporting these incredible charities.”

We are immensely grateful to all at Jones Robinson for their wonderful support – and we look forward to the rest of their fundraising plans to come. Their next plan is for a Halloween spooktacular with a ticketed ghoulishly good disco. Date and details to be announced, and we look forward to sharing the plans and details soon.

Their fundraising is off to a flying start and we are incredibly inspired by their determination, commitment and passion to help raise money for such life-affirming and brilliant causes, like ours.

Between Church Robinson and Jones Robinson offices, the company have raised thousands of pounds for charities since their inception in 1998, all making a huge difference to those in need.

We are always amazed by the lengths our supporters go to, to support and raise funds for us, or just with the sheer number of toys, gifts and Easter eggs that corporates collect in our seasonal campaigns, and we think all of our supporters from businesses, schools, groups, football tournament players, pubs, sports clubs, dance schools and more carry out are P2G Heroes and The Jones Robinson Group are a great example of putting corporate social responsibility at the heart of their commitment to community and causes.

Thank you, Jones Robinson, for all of your support – we can’t wait to hear more about more fabulous ways you come up with to raise funds for us this year.
