The first football tournament host by Play2Give has netted in over £2,700 and boost the tune of 3 Oxfordshire charities.
November’s 6-a-side contested by 19 mens teams from around the county was a success and has helped boost the coffers of the Oxford Children’s Hospital, Heads Up head and neck cancer research fund at the John Radcliffe, and Fox FM’s Help an Oxfordshire Child to £900 each.
Representatives from the 3 charities. including Fox FM’s Teresa Thompson and DJ Simon Ross were presented with the cheques in a presentation handover at the Children’s Hospital, yesterday.
The tournament saw the likes of teams from Fox FM DJs, to Sophos in Abingdon, a team of journo’s from the Oxford Mail to ITV Thames Valley, Didcot firefighters, school teachers from Matthew Arnold and RM take part on a bitterly cold November Sunday.
This year’s charity tournament will return to a brand new venue at the ground of Oxford City Football Club on 13th July. The event will raise money for the Children’s Hospital and Abingdon Town Amateur Boxing Club‘s new gym campaign.
