Today, we want to say a big thank you and send the most enormous of luck to George Wagerfield as he prepares to tackle a huge challenge in aid of our charity next weekend
George, a director by day at Mathews Comfort Financial Services – an annual sponsor of the Oxfordshire Business Awards, which take place tonight, is preparing to take on a 50km march in North Yorkshire as part of the Ultra Challenge
George, whose now hardy athletic, will be trekking 50 miles across the beautiful scenic surroundings of North Yorkshire to raise funds and awareness – and wearing a Play2Give top custom made by our long time friends, Blue Blood – driven in inspiration of our founder Andrew Baker
George, with his colleague Karen Whitbread, first met Andy in 2025, and was instantly struck by Andy, his story and his success with Play2Give despite Andy’s own personal life challenges. As George writes in his own words:
“I’m doing this to raise money for Play2Give – a truly incredible charity founded by the inspiring Andrew Baker. I first met Andy in 2025 while judging the Oxfordshire Business Awards (OXBA), and I was genuinely blown away by the impact Play2Give has, driven by his personal journey and determination to give back.
George continues: “As a parent, it means a lot to me knowing there are organisations like Play2Give supporting children and families during some of their most difficult moments. Every child deserves the best possible care, and this charity works tirelessly to make this happen.”
George – who is aiming to raise £500 and is now over halfway to his target – will take on this brave and enduring descent on Saturday June 20th – and we are all behind him all the way, as his support and passion for supporting our charity and our mission in changing, transforming, and saving lives across Oxfordshire is truly endearing to us, and we think he is a P2G Hero
