It’s a new R9 in the making as football team captain becomes a close crop
This afternoon, an incredible guy from Didcot received a hair-raising experience for sure with a big shave at his work’s headquarters.
Joseph Gray, helpdesk team leader at Planet IT, is the captain of their team taking part in our charity football tournament on Sunday (July 9th) and he has literally gone above and beyond to raise funds!
The Planet Ballers are just one of our 28 amazing teams taking part in our 12th football tournament on Sunday at Wallingford Sports Park.
This year’s 6 a side contest has seen the most number of teams ever take part in the event’s history, with 28 squads signed up, to kick off for charity.
The team, captained by Joe – who once worked with our founder Andy Baker at Sainsbury’s in Didcot many years ago – set out to raise £100 last week but through their Justgiving page they smashed £1,000!
In reaching £1k Joe dedicated himself to going to extra lengths literally by committing himsekf to the R9 trim, famous from 2002.
Little did Joe realise that his colleagues, as well as supporters, would get behind his extra initiative thrown in and reach the magic £1k goal, so, today was Joe’s big shave day at Planet IT’s HQ on Milton Park and he is now sporting a rather breezy shaved head. He has well and truly gone one step above for our charity and also had his eyebrows shaved off for extra hair-raising measures, after his colleagues voted in the live shave on YouTube, if £1,400 was reached.

What a legend and what a P2G Hero that he, and all of them are, for helping to raise such an extraordinary amount for our local charity in changing, transforming, and saving lives across Oxfordshire.
Other teams taking part on Sunday include Commerce Decisions and Vertex Pharmaceuticals, also on Milton Park, Wynter’s Wish United FC, The Cornermen, Allmakes, Didcot Casuals Sunday FC, Youngmans Oxford, Snap Fitness and even a squad Idris Barbering Company all the way from London.
We would like to thank Joe and all at Planet IT for their amazing fundraising and well done and thank you too to all of our super star teams who will be taking to the pitches and tackling the heat to score lots of goals on Sunday in our 12th football fest.
We are looking forward to Sunday’s event and everyone is welcome from 10am to cheer on, and support the fundraising as we also have a raffle with over 20 prizes with prizes totalling over £1k in value.
All teams taking part on Sunday are amazing but we don’t think anyone will miss the ferocious and fierce R9 on the pitches.
