Lewis braves a sponatenous shave to raise Play2Give funds

At Play2Give, we never fail to be blown away at the amazing efforts that supporters go to to raise funds for our tiny charity – including kind-hearted football teams and fundraising footballers like individuals such as Lewis

Lewis Manning from Didcot took part again this year as part of the 2024 Plate-winning ‘Hardly Athletic’ team, a squad who contested in our 14th charity football tournament held on July 13th – in a bid to keep hold of the Waymark Property-sponsored Play2Give Plate.

Unfortunately for Joe, Lewis and the team they weren’t quite able to match on their performance last year to keep clinch plate victory for a second year running, but they were all winners for braving the heat, soaring up the temperature on the pitch, and sizzling footwork to raise over £7,300 for P2G.

Sadly for Lewis, he sustained an injury just after kick off and had to pull out, however he still managed to help go one step further in raising funds this year, by spontaneously deciding the night before, after hearing more about our incredible work and the impact our fundraising has, to ‘brave the shave‘ before kick off, as part of the Didcot Dads team fundraising crusade.

Lewis managed to raise some brilliant pounds online, and his efforts earnt him a rather cool (and no doubt breezy and much needed cool feel) skinhead for the cause, helping to raise around £200 collectively with the Didcot Dads team.

To show our appreciation, Lewis, along with Alex of the Didcot Dads team, will be presented soon by Andy with medals and certificates of appreciation each, for their tremendous efforts in going above and beyond, for our charity, for being P2G Heroes.

Well done and congratulations Lewis and to all of the Hardly Athletic bunch, and to Alex and the Didcot Dads – who we will feature separately on this page – and all of this years fantastic and charitable spirited football teams for embracing the event and helping us to raise a record £7.3k plus from this years very best match of the day in history.

We think all of our supporters are P2G Heroes and we are immensely grateful to each and every one whether businesses, individuals, schools, pubs, supermarkets or groups and more for all helping take our mission to heart in changing, transforming and saving lives locally.
