2022 15th year and over £4,450 to local brain injury organisation Headway

At Play2Give our charity is all about changing, transforming and saving lives across Oxfordshire, and beyond. Our particular focus is on helping, supporting and providing relief to children, health and disability causes.

For nine years now, one of these organisations that our impact has made an incredible difference towards is the award-winning and specialist service, Headway Oxfordshire.

Recipients of the 2022 BBC Radio Oxford Community Group Award, Headway have benefited from over £24,600 in the past nine years through our events and fundraising activities including numerous tombolas, cake sales and raffles.

In 2022 – and as part of our fifteenth anniversary year – we set out to raise a target of £15k in 15 as part of our milestone year appeal. We are delighted that, thanks to another year of incredible support from our community, our volunteers and our supporters, we were able to provide over £4,450 to Headway, based in Kennington.

Funds raised last year came from events including our third Hollywood themed gala ball, our 11th football tournament, danceathons, ladies night, our festive market organised with Didcot Events, rock and roll bingo nights, skydives and fundraising parties amongst more. £114, as part of funds raised by our eighth ‘Sleigh2Give‘ festive appeal, enabled us to provide provisions of board games and art and craft items for the activity and rehabilitation day centre.

In total, over the past nine years we have helped to provide funding towards keeping the services and centre running especially in 2015 at a time when government funding ceased, £7k towards six specialist custom-made pieces of physiotherapy machines and towards the creation of a sensory rehabilitation garden, still in development. And, during Covid-19 its Covid emergency response appeal providing food parcels to the most vulnerable of service users.

The support we continue to give Headway is a special one and one of extra special personal significance to Andy. As a service user of almost 11 years, Andy knows first hand the incredible work of this life-affirming organisation and the difference that funds raised provided thanks to charities like us, supporting over 400 adults and their carers living with the impact of brain injuries, makes.

Thanks to everyone who supported our 15th year last year, and who continue to do so.

It is only thanks to our generous supporters and community that we are able to continue changing, transforming and saving lives and making an incredible impact on the lives of many who our work helps.
