Play2Give’s Matthew Norris recognised in Didcot Town Community Awards

A lovely evening was enjoyed last night at the Didcot Town Council Community Awards.

A huge congratulations goes to our very own Matt, who was nominated this year in the Unsung Hero category.

Matt was shortlisted this year alongside five other fantastic nominees for his work as our Community Officer (now Head of Major Giving and Prospect Research) since 2016, being a pivotal member of our core team. Matt is also vice chair of our Trustees board.

In 2021, Matt raised £805 for our charity in memory of his mam and our late supporter, Angela Norris. To mark her passing at 65 years old, Matt set out on a £650 fundraiser – a sponsored hair dye (at £325) bleaching his dark locks white/blonde and head shave (at the full goal). In total, he raised £805 in memory of Angela.

Whilst Matt did not win last night, he is a winner in our eyes as are all of our incredible volunteers and supporters for all that they do in our mission and work of changing, transforming and saving lives across Oxfordshire and beyond.

It was a wonderful evening, celebrating the great and good of the town.

A lovely evening had, many congratulations to all of this year’s winners and nominees (some of whom are our supporters) and an amazing opening performing from the Maguire O’Shea Academy of Irish Dance, with truly breathtaking routines.

We think Matt is a P2G Hero and we know his Mam would have been proud of him, as we all are.
