Nominate your P2G Heroes ✨️🌟
Nominations are open for and will remain open until midnight 10th August for our 2024 Play2Give Volunteers Award 🏅🏆
Since being created in late 2021, our annual special award is all about celebrating and recognising volunteers or supporters who go above and beyond for our charity. Originally born in 2021 as a special award named in the memory of a late supporter, Angela Norris.
Nominees could be someone who has helped to raise money for our charity through taking on a sponsored challenge, shaving their heads, spun bikes and more, to a volunteer who has dedicated many years or even decades of loyal service to our charity to a business or group whose really gone above and beyond in getting behind the mission of Play2Give and raising substantial amounts or in any other ways. It could be someone who has helped to organise an event or run campaigns or more.
Do you know someone? Each year we award and celebrate these people at our Charity Ball which this year our fifth gala occasion, ‘The Play2Give 2024 Ball’ is being held on the night of Saturday September 28th at Milton Hill House and it really will be a licence to thrill.
Here we highlight some of those who could be nominated – but we need your help to put them forward!
All nominees will be read and a shortlist created by our dedicated judging panel, who will then choose the top three and decide the overall winner, who will be announced in an exciting presentation on the night of Sept 28th.
All those shortlisted will receive a certificate and medal and the winner a beautiful glass trophy too privately funded by a donor.
Some examples of some amazing volunteers and supporters. These are just a few examples there are many who are P2G Heroes…
Chloe Boyne: Chloe has been volunteering for Play2Give since 2019. She has also took part in five OX5RUNS each March as part of our heroes and even ran the Oxford Half Marathon with her partner, Conner last October. She helps to co organise our football tournament and also helps with social media and marketing, in her professional capacity as a sports journalist. She has helped raised thousands through her many runs and marathons, including her NCS fundraising in 2019 whose group helped to fund around 20 thermo-cooling mugs for parents of sick children on the hospital wards. This year is her 5th year of fundraising for us.
Berro Lounge: Berro Lounge in Didcot raised a record amount of money for Play2Give as their chosen charity this June through their ‘Lounge Aid’ appeal. In total almost £1.5k was raised smashing their £800 goal through exciting events such as a sell out drag bingo night which raised £500, cycling over 70 miles on a spin bike from Didcot to Bristol, a bake sale, a raffle, a pot on the bar, a £500 donation (for being the best lounge at fundraising in the region) from their head office and more. Each year they also help us raise thousands of Christmas presents and eggs through our annual #Sleigh2Give and Easter egg appeals. This year saw them have their best #LoungeAid drive ever.
Joshua Copus: Joshua not only helps to organise our football tournaments these days but last November also undertook a 7-day 65-mile treadmill challenge at his local gym in an aim to raise a few hundred for Play2Give to mark 65 years of his late Nan’s life, of which this award was named after previously.
He also takes part in the annual OX5RUN.
Lee Crook: Lee has been fundraising for us for a decade. Lee who first heard of us through Sainsbury’s in Didcot who chose us as a year-long charity of the year partnership in 2014 hasn’t done so much since. From numerous sponsored walks to “Movember” to running raffles to dressing as Santa in December 2015 on a 6-hour cross-country stroll armed with two sacks of toys for young patients at Oxford Children’s Hospital to this July walking every day to raise and auctioning some darts signed shirts. Lee has been a stalwart supporter for an incredible 10 years raising thousands of pounds showing great dedication and drive and all from after Andy began flogging second hand books in Sainsbury’s Didcot in 2014!
These are just a few examples of the many supporters and volunteers who could be nominated. There are many more.
Help us to celebrate some incredible P2G superstars. If you’d like to put anyone forward please see the info in the graphic and get your nominations in to us by August 10th, as we cannot wait to read each and every one 🙌
