Didcot Town Awards celebrates the great of the town – including Play2Give volunteers
Last Saturday Didcot Town Council held their annual awards evening – celebrating the great and good of Didcot, hosted by the Didcot Mayor, councillor Jim Loder.
This year, Play2Give was again well represented as a charity with nominations for three of our volunteers and supporters, as well as a nomination for Andy in both the Lifetime Achievement and for the John Eldridge Award for Voluntary Service.
A huge well done to both Leanne Coates and Lewis Manning – both were shortlisted in the Unsung Hero category for their work with Play2Give – along with Jeanette Howse who was nominated for a second time for the coveted lifetime achievement award. Jeanette helps us, including organising our annual Christmas Market each November.
Play2Give was proud to have been nominated by the community for outstanding contributions – and it was a privilege to fly the flag for P2G
Whilst none of us took home wins, for Andy, Leanne, Lewis and Jeanette they are all winners in our eyes
It was a lovely evening with a room full of inspirational people and groups from the town, with amazing performances from Bernadine Soul School of Dance.
A huge congratulations to all the nominees and to all the winners including our friends at Step In Time School of Performing Arts who won the Artistic Award, after a four times consecutive nominations, and to Anna Gatrell, one of our supporters, who won the prolific John Eldridge Award for Voluntary Service for her many years doing a great job organising Christmas Day dinners for those lonely and vulnerable. It was an honour for Play2Give to be included amongst them all!
A thank you to Didcot Town Council for organising the evening.
For all at Play2Give being recognised by our peers always means a lot, so thank you to those who took the time to nominate Andy or us.
Next year, 2027, as a charity we turn 20 years old – two decades of changing, transforming, and saving lives across Oxfordshire while Andy reaches an incredible anniversary of 25 years of making a difference, and all from a mission he had aged 14 to raise just £500 at school to help fund the creation of the Oxford Children’s Hospital whick started his charity work.
To us, all of our team members and volunteers are superstars.
