We are beyond thrilled to hear that one of our high-profile patrons, Winston Ellis, has been honoured with an MBE in this year’s first ever King’s Birthday Honours
Reading-born Winston is an accomplished British actor who has starred in Pirates of the Caribbean and Batman: The Dark Knight amongst other film roles including Shiner. Winston who is also a three-times world martial art champion has been a patron of our charity since October 2018, when he first met Andy Baker MBE at an Against Breast Cancer awards ceremony in 2017.
Winston, who is an ambassador to the BAME Health Collaborative, has been recognised with an MBE for charitable services to ethnic minority communities and we are absolutely delighted and happy for Winston as it is a very well deserved honour.
Winston attended our black-tie Hollywood gala Ball in March 2022 bringing star quality to the night alongside fellow film star Jamie B. Chambers. Winston has hosted award ceremonies including Pride of Reading and for three years running until 2019, the Against Breast Cancer Achievement Awards.
It is wonderful that our charity has close links to royalty as our fellow patron, MP David Johnston OBE, who came on board as a patron to our charity in early 2020, was honoured with a royal gong in 2018 as he was awarded an OBE for services to social mobility and education.
Congratulations Winston, we are very proud of you and please keep flying the flag as you do so wonderfully, raising awareness of our charity with your celebrity status. Thank you for all of your support.
We look forward to seeing pictures of Winston collecting his gong at the palace in the coming months.
Please join us in giving a huge round of applause for Dr Winston Ellis MBE
