Record breaking football tournament
What a day and a record event in history too.
That was our 14th Football Tournament on Sunday
A record breaking £7,000 plus raised
After many months of planning, organising, late nights especially in the final few days including sorting referee schedules the night before, long hours, stress, tears and tribulations, what a triumph and a record breaker our 14th charity football tournament was.
Sunday saw us hit Wallingford Sports Park to host our annual footballing fest and it was another great day, and a sizzling success with the heat, and the stakes, higher than ever.
Sunday’s weather couldn’t of been more amazing. We were truly blessed with super sunshine, and it was the hottest tournament ever, with plenty of hot action and it all kicked off… literally!
18 fabulous teams took to the pitches to battle it out, and a packed day with a great crowd coming down to support the day.
From local companies including Vertex Pharmaceuticals, to Planet IT, Explosive Learning Solutions and ATA Logistics and ATA Sameday both taking part to fellow local charity The Cornermen to squads of friends and even new first-time teams from other counties, a diverse range of teams came together to unite for the love of the beautiful game and fun along the way, and nearly all teams embracing the charitable spirit which is what it is all about as a fun and friendly contest, helping to make this year’s tournament the very best match of the day yet!
We are also delighted to announce that thanks to everyone’s generosity and kindness and our best ever class of teams ever, with the teams going above and beyond more then ever and the year that saw teams raise the most ever through sponsorship and fundraising, we have raised the most ever for any previous event with over £7,455 raised. So, today, we are still on a high and are still celebrating a record breaking vixtory, far surpassing and exceeding all expectations.
Congratulations to this year’s awardees:
ATA – Top Fundraising Team Award
Beyond Athletic – The P2G Plate
Winning and Pinning – 2025 P2G Cup Champions
We would love to extend another great big thank you to all of this year’s teams and all who took part, to all those who officiated including our volunteer refs – including players from some of the teams who stepped up as otherwise there would of been reduced and much less games, helped, volunteered, our pro photographer Courtnay Denham Photography and to Sarah from Oxford Hospitals Charity, to those came along, dug deep, Radio Cherwell, the marshals lead by Cath Convery, John’s Whippy, stall holders, bought raffle tickets, companies and individuals who donated raffle prizes, our very best ice cream man, tombola and so much more including the event sponsors The Jones Robinson Group, Allum’s of Oxon, Blue Blood, danmundayhair and Waymark Property and of course a big thank you to the Wallingford Sports Park for hosting us. They love this event and are always so supportive.
Even the ice cream man donated a fantastic £60 from takings at the end, so big thank you to John Cannon.
Our thanks also to Oxfordshire FA and Berks & Bucks FA and for their support.
What a year it has been so far and the year is still looking young with so many more fun, engaging and exciting events and activities to come, from our Oscars-themed gala Ball at Milton Hill House on October 11 to our Christmas Fayre in November and our Christmas Party, as well as the launch of our 11th Sleigh2Give Christmas Appeal later this year.
P2G is all about changing, transforming, and saving lives locally and this latest amazing and record effort from our 14th footy tournament really will do just this.
Next year, 2026, will mark the 15th anniversary of this very special local event as we approach Andy’s 25th year of fundraising for Oxford Hospitals Charity in 2027
Once again thank you ❤️
