Schoolchildren showed their true Christmas spirit and kindness again this year by collecting presents for other children less fortunate and in ill health to give an A* boost to Sleigh2Give 11!
Once again we were amazed and overwhelmed by the tremendous gift giving generosity from some superb schools, who really put their hearts behind our 11th #Sleigh2Give toy appeal this year.
Collecting hundreds of gifts between their communities amongst pupils, staff and families with some like Willowcroft School raising their biggest amount to date, whilst some such as Didcot Girls School came on board for the first time ever, and all bringing immense smiles and happy faces to children, older patients and families in hospitals and hospices this Christmas – and beyond! The joy of a gift that whilst seems a small gesture of kindness and thought goes well beyond Christmas and leaves lasting impact.
Wallingford School gathered another grotto full of presents whilst the school council of Didcot Girls also raised funds for Play2Give with hair braiding, selling doughnuts and candy floss to raise £160. Year 6 at St John Fisher Catholic Primary in Littlemore – their third year joining in – raised money at their Christmas Bazaar with a Name the Reindeer game to buy toys.
St Birinus – Andy’s old school – and now in their 10th year of taking part in the toy appeal, raised money through various fundraising efforts – and total is to be confirmed in the new year. We love all the varied, imaginative and great ways school children go to, to raise funds for our charity. While the students of Didcot Sixth Form’s InterAct Club raised £246 with a quiz night.
St Birinus School, Wallingford School, Didcot Girls’ School, St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, Didcot Sixth Form and Willowcroft Community School spreading cheer, joy and smiles to a local child in need – we think they are top of the class, thank you to them all.
