Thank you tribute to hospital charity extraordinaire

Published: 7th March 2024

Thank you and good luck David!

This week we bid farewell to David Child, now former community fundraising manager at Oxford Hospitals Charity (OHC).

David joined the hospital charity team in January last year on maternity cover and in his time until recently we have worked closely with David as we continued our support in fundraising for the Oxford Children’s Hospital, with our biggest donation to the hospital from our 2023 events and activities.

David moves onto pastures new into an exciting job role in music and performing arts, but he will continue to support our charity and will remain a firm friend to Play2Give.

In working closely with us over the past 14 months, David had really been a great support. He was also instrumental and hugely involved in organising their celebrations of the landmark £100k lifetime total that we reached last April for the children’s hospital, including their mini celebrations with us at the hospital and then making our big joint celebratory event, our great gatsby ball held in September, extra special in tandem with his colleagues and our friends at the hospital charity.

As you may have seen from our posts and social updates over the months, he attended many of our events and has become a really good friend of ours, and so popular amongst our team for his warmth and unwavering support. From the minute, he along with his colleague Naomi, met our founder Andy last February he was constantly blown away and inspired. He remains very enthused to continue in supporting our tremendous work in changing, transforming, and saving lives of young patients, families and staff at the Children’s Hospital along with the lives of many others that our work and our funds raised touch.

Everyone in our team at P2G who know of David will really miss him, working with him in our continued fundraising and support for the Oxford Children’s Hospital.  So, as a “thank you” and to say “goodbye” in person for now (certainly not altogether), Andy along with Ann, his mum, visited the charity’s offices yesterday to surprise David with a special card filled with some great picture memories, and some wonderful highlights, of his time supporting us, from the ball to our Christmas party to our football tournament and even as a dancing tree on our Christmas toy drop last December. Andy also presented him with one of our “P2G Hero” medals, as we felt he thoroughly deserved one, for his wonderful support and great partnership in doing so much for Play2Give during his tenure at OHC. Needless to say, we left him rather touched by our thoughtfulness and warm-hearted gesture.

We also with Naomi, corporate engagement manager, the very best in the world as she sets out on her new chapter very soon, and like David we know she will ‘ace’ it as she has done in her time over the past year. Together, they have both been OHC marvels doing lots of amazing work bringing community and corporate together for the benefit of Oxfordshire’s hospitals.
