Play2Give’s Easter egg appeal launches for an eggscellent fifth drive

Published: 8th February 2025

A Didcot-born charity which has been changing, transforming, and saving lives across Oxfordshire for two decades, has launched its fifth Easter appeal to bring seasonal cheer, joy and smiles to children and their families in hospital.
Play2Give is looking to collect Easter eggs to deliver to the Children’s Hospital, siblings and families in the neonatal care unit, both at the John Radcliffe alongside local hospices and local families and people in need.
The latest seasonal campaign follows on the back of the charity’s biggest, best and most successful Christmas appeal which saw a record number of toys and gifts than ever before, of around £70k worth in value, provided in the charity appeal’s tenth anniversary Sleigh2Give.
The charity, founded by Andrew Baker, will be welcoming donations until April 11th. Play2Give was created by brain injury survivor Andy and organises many year-round events and drives to raise funds for the community focused on children, health and disability and has also launched its fourteenth annual football tournament which is now open to team registrations.
After four successful Easter appeals, as an eggscellent appeal first launched by the charity in 2020, Play2Give’s drive last year saw a record 1,300 eggs donated by the community with the charity amassing over 2,500 in total during the appeal’s tenure.
Young carers, families supported by the Southern Oxfordshire branch of Home-Start and the emergency food bank in Didcot will also benefit from the cracking campaign’s collection.
Cornerstone Arts Centre, the Civic Hall, Dunelm and Berro Lounge all in Didcot, while The Lambourn on Abingdon business park have all been confirmed as drop off points with several more which can be found online, at play2give.org.uk/easter-appeal
People can also donate funds online, and the money raised will be used in purchasing Easter eggs.
The eggs will be delivered by the hoppity happy Play2Give bunny when it springs into action and makes it dash on rounds in time for Easter weekend.
People wishing to get involved and for a full list of donation points can find more information at Play2Give’s website and social media channels.
