Willowbrook’s Got Talent is coming to Didcot

Published: 27th October 2017

Didcot’s take on the hit ITV show Britain’s Got Talent is sweeping the town soon and you can help support children less fortunate at the same time.

Talent contest, Willowbrook’s Got Talent!, is taking centre stage on Saturday November 18 to help children in need and you are needed!

Acts are wanted for Didcot’s own spin on the popular TV programme and you can put yourselves forward and help a worthy cause in the process.

Play2Give, which is the Oxfordshire Guardian’s charity of the year and the annual BBC’s Children in Need appeal, are both set to benefit from this amusing fundraiser, which is free to enter to all.

Those spectating the great the good and the ridiculous are asked to donate ÂŁ2.50.  The talent contest forms part of a charity day Willowbrook Leisure Centre on Bowmont Water in Didcot (next to the football club) have put together for Pudsey’s annual appeal which helps disadvantaged children and young people across the United Kingdom.

Willowbrook’s Got Talent culminates the spotacular day of fun and fundraising from 10am, and it is hoped a wide variety of different acts will be seen taking part in the show at 4.30pm.   Acts will face a panel of judges, including P2G’s very own founder Andy Baker.

Can you dance? Can you sing? Are you able to juggle or balance on a unicycle? Are you able to balance more than one banana on your head at one time without them falling? Do you have a fantastic feline with a special talent? A pawsome pooch with an incredible skill? A talented tortoise?

Event organiser Debra Davies, of Willowbrook Leisure Centre, who are longterm P2G supporters, says: Awaiting quote

Willowbrook have long supported P2G and have helped raise more than ÂŁ700 towards the fundraising organisation’s goals, over the past couple of years including two themed spinathons.  They are helping P2G add to the ÂŁ16,000 the group have already chalked up this year as part of their tenth anniversary appeal.

Andy said: “This will be an amusing take on the popular show and should show up the duds and the exceptional.

“Didcot has always had lots of talent within it, such as those who who come from St Birinus such as Ant Hansen and Matt Richardson who have gone stage and TV fame or into sporting stars. So I know there are lots of the weird wonderful and wacky awaiting to unleash theirs for this hilarious event.

“And after all everyone loves Pudsey, so we hope that both causes will be generously boosted. And I can’t wait to be one of the judges – unfortunately Cowell and co was busy!”

P2G raises funds and awareness for Oxford Children’s Hospital and Headway Oxfordshire.
